EIT Health RIH Germany-Switzerland welcomes 15 start-ups from across Europe to the 2022 edition of the Start-ups Meet Pharma programme.
In 2022 we partnered with four pharma companies, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, Takeda and Sintetica to jointly organize this year’s edition of the Start-ups Meet Pharma programme. We are now pleased to announce that we have selected 15 start-ups that address the challenges pharma companies face with operational products and services.
Over the course of the next four months, the start-ups from across Europe will take part in various training and workshops, spend dedicated time with the pharma representatives to work on their solutions, and prepare for the Demo Day in September 2022. The program officially kicks off on 2 May 2022 with Module 1 “Driving Innovation in Healthcare”.

Boehringer Ingelheim
Early diagnosis and identification of risk for disease progression in Chronic Kidney Disease patients
Renalyse is developing a novel platform for healthcare that aims to improve the well-being of people by allowing decentralized analyses of relevant biochemical parameters in blood. Biochemical and physical information will be integrated into a technological platform allowing Renalyse to predict, early detect, and to prevent acute conditions from home.
1DROP facilitates the early detection, prevention and management of disease and empowers people to live better lives. Its innovative diagnostic solutions for multiplexed assays of proteins, nucleic acids and peptides serve as tools for the development of new therapies and drugs, disease research, and clinical diagnostic tests.
Novartis
Care coordination between primary care and specialty care for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease patients with elevated LDL-c levels
Maela develops a new solution as well as innovative services for the preparation, support and follow-up of patients. With its fully integrated approach, it facilitates the reduction of stay times and offers new possibilities to establishments and patients alike, without ever compromising the well-being of individuals.
The iATROS app connects patients and their smart body monitors directly with a tele-physician. With the app patients receive an individual medication and therapy plan, as well as a lot of helpful information to better understand their condition and learn how to better manage it. This way people always have a doctor in their pocket – anywhere in the world – always at hand.
Knok offers a SaaS solution called knok|Panacea that meets doctors’ demands for efficiency, transparency, and personalised service, and is as simple as it gets. No special software, account creation, or individual dial-in details is required for patients.
Cardiolyse is a cloud ECG & HRV analytics platform, that enables real-time remote heart health monitoring, providing plain personalized reports, detection and up to two months of data-based prognosis on dangerous heart events.
Bowhead Health provides highly secure health data solutions to capture behavioural, wearable, clinical and genomic data from distinct sources without ever sacrificing privacy.
Sintetica
Innovative solutions for pain management
Wavy connects everyday wearable devices and smart home speakers. It uses smart consumer devices that seamlessly integrate into everyday life to watch over vulnerable people and will intervene if necessary. Wavy learns from smartwatch data about the personal health status and keeps monitoring for changes.
VRpharma develops a solution designed for hospital needs with VR content specifically designed to empower patients, giving them an innovative and fun way to escape from scary and painful realities in healthcare. This helps to lower perceived pain, to reduce stress, anxiety and fear levels of patients – changing the experience from stressful and traumatic to fun and enjoyable!
Medicsen is developing a needle-free and wearable patch for painless administration of big molecules through the skin. Thanks to this ultrasound-based drug administration technology, this comfortable device intends to lower the discomfort and social burden created by needles and other invasive methodologies to millions of chronic patients all over the world.
ExactCure´s Digital Twin is a non-intrusive personalized health solution able to predict the efficacy and interactions of drugs based on the specific characteristics of each individual (gender, age, weight, etc.) in real-time. This electronic support (simulation, alerts, notification) will augment and secure the therapy.
Takeda
Digital solution improving referral and diagnostic pathway for Rare Diseases
UpHill enables health teams to improve outcomes and streamline care by applying evidence-based knowledge through stepwise clinical pathways. Their solution, Route®, is a decision-making support tool for boosting clinical pathways’ adoption.
spotLab AI develops AI algorithms for medical image analysis. They have created a platform to digitize medical images with the smartphone for analysis and diagnosis using artificial intelligence algorithms.
Saventic Health creates artificial intelligence algorithms to support doctors in diagnosing rare (hidden) diseases early based on patients’ medical records i.e. laboratory test results, radiology and other descriptive medical data.
The Anvajo team has developed a portable device for point-of-care fluid analysis that has the potential to be used in a wide variety of industries. The Anvajo “fluidlab” combines two central laboratory technologies: 1. Spectroscopy and 2. Microscopy in one portable diagnostic device. The performance of each test is supported by a custom-designed sample carrier system that functions in processing and delivering the fluid to the analyzer.
